Independence

A Type A inspection body

ISO/IEC 17020 classifies inspection bodies as Type A, B or C according to their independence. GQCL operates as a Type A inspection body: it is independent of the parties involved, and it does not design, manufacture, supply, install, use or maintain the items it inspects.

Process

How it works

Each stage is planned and confirmed with you in advance.

  1. Step 01

    Inspection request

You define the item, the location and the applicable requirements, and we confirm the method and the inspector.

  2. Step 02

    Inspection

Qualified inspectors examine, test or measure the item using the agreed standard and method.

  3. Step 03

    Inspection report

A clear, impartial report of findings against each requirement, signed by the authorised inspector.

FAQ

Common questions

What does an inspection report contain?

The report identifies the item inspected, the inspection requirements and method, the date and location, the results for each requirement and the inspection conclusion, with photographs and measurements where relevant. It is signed by the authorised inspector.

What does Type A mean?

A Type A inspection body is fully independent. It is not a party to the design, manufacture, supply, installation, purchase, ownership, use or maintenance of the items it inspects, which provides the highest level of impartiality under ISO/IEC 17020.

How often should lifting equipment be inspected?

Intervals are set by the applicable regulations, the manufacturer's instructions, the conditions of use and the client's requirements. Thorough examinations are commonly required every six or twelve months, depending on the type of equipment.

Are your inspection reports recognised internationally?

Our inspection activities are accredited by EGAC, a signatory to the ILAC Mutual Recognition Arrangement, which supports the acceptance of accredited inspection reports across signatory economies.

Can you inspect outside the UAE?

Yes, subject to the type of inspection and the location. Share the details with our team and we will confirm availability, inspector competence and timing.
