FAQ

Personnel certification questions

What is ISO/IEC 17024?

ISO/IEC 17024 is the international standard specifying requirements for bodies that certify persons. It requires certification to be based on a published scheme, a valid and reliable examination, and impartial decision making.

Is GQCL personnel certification accredited?

Yes. GQCL is accredited by EGAC, the Egyptian Accreditation Council, as a certification body for persons to ISO/IEC 17024, under Schedule of Accreditation No. 0826002B, first issued on 13 July 2026 and valid to 12 July 2030. EGAC is a signatory to the IAF Multilateral Recognition Arrangement for the certification of persons.

Which certifications does the accreditation cover?

The management system auditor scheme (GQCL-MLA-SM-001) certifies internal auditors, auditors and lead auditors for ISO 9001, ISO 14001, ISO 45001, ISO 22000, ISO 50001, ISO 22301, ISO 37001, ISO 37301 and ISO/IEC 27001. The energy and sustainability scheme (GQCL-CESE-SM-001) certifies ten designations, from energy auditor and ESG professional to GHG verification professional and BIM manager.

How is the examination conducted?

Auditor certifications are assessed by written examination and oral interview. Energy and sustainability certifications add a practical verification assignment. Examinations may be taken in person or online under controlled conditions.

Do I need to attend a training course first?

It depends on the certification. Where training is a prerequisite, it may be completed with any recognised provider. Candidates are never required to train with GQCL, and examination is kept separate from any training.

Can my employer apply on my behalf?

Yes. Employers may sponsor individual candidates or certify entire teams. The certificate is always issued to the individual and remains valid if they change employer.
