Overview

What it involves

Non-destructive testing detects surface and internal discontinuities in welds, castings, forgings and components without impairing their future use. It is applied during fabrication, at acceptance and in service.

Testing is carried out by inspectors qualified to ASNT Level II, using written procedures based on ASTM E709 for magnetic particle testing, ASTM E165 for liquid penetrant testing and ASTM E164 for ultrasonic testing of welds.

What you receive

An NDT report recording the method, procedure, equipment, results and evaluation against the specified acceptance criteria.

What is covered

  • Magnetic particle testing, MT (ASTM E709)
  • Liquid penetrant testing, PT (ASTM E165)
  • Ultrasonic testing of welds, UT (ASTM E164)
  • Visual inspection of welds and components
  • Evaluation against the acceptance criteria of the applicable code
